FULTON SCHOOL CHAMPIONS - May 2024

TINA DARLING

  • Special Education Teacher, Granby Elementary
    May 2024 Fulton School Champion

"My son gets all of his services at home due to his medical condition and compromised immune system. Tina is his Special Education Teacher and comes to our house a couple times a week to work on his schooling. She comes in with a positive attitude and a big smile even after working all day in her own classroom with her other students. Tina goes above and beyond in making sure my son is included in everything, like having him come into their class for their Christmas party, Valentines party and having him get his first school picture taken with the class. My son loves when she comes to our house and works with him. She is very kind, calm and a very caring person. Everyone that meets Tina, loves her right away. She is the best and we are very grateful for everything she does for our son. I can't express how great of a person Tina is all around. Thank you!!"

"She goes above and beyond to help the students and families. I'm grateful how well she does with my child. She is definitely valuable..."

"She is so very caring for all of her students. She is constantly going above and beyond for the needs of her children. She opens the doors to education for the many children that are overlooked elsewhere. To say that she is kind and loving is an understatement. There's not enough words to describe her and the love she has. She is willing to listen and look for ways unique to the children's needs to open the learning process to them..."

JO LOUISE BAKER

  • Special Education Teaching Assistant, Fulton Junior High
    May 2024 Fulton School Champion

"Mrs. Baker has always been so welcoming and helpful since day one. She is so compassionate, giving, and patient. She inspires everyone she comes in contact with. Not only adults but all the students as well. She gives it her "all" to the classroom as well as the after-school community program. Mrs. Baker always goes above and beyond to help her colleagues with what they need to better themselves in a daily setting. She is the real true champion of the school as she has been here for many years. She's always so dedicated to the school and the people she worked with. We will miss her for sure as she retires. Hats off to you Jo..."

"Jo is a warm-hearted presence that has a smile for everyone, students, staff and families. She will be retiring soon, and she will be missed beyond measure by after-school staff, and of course, the kids. She goes out of her way to make students feel welcome, to engage with kids and offer kind enrichment to all of us in the Extended Day (Community School) Afterschool program. Jo puts a special touch on our family night activities, bringing in things from home to dress the place up, and make the students and their families feel welcome. She helps put students at ease when they feel nervous about coming to the Junior High from elementary school. Her Junior High students seem to always seek her out, when they need a little encouragement. She has been a great communicator and advocate for her students when they want to participate in afterschool activities. Lucky for us, Jo and her family attend many district and community events, and we hope to see her enjoy her retirement. We Love you Jo!"
