The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the federal government's financial assistance program for college students, based on financial need. Complete January 1 and thereafter for the same calendar year that your son or daughter plans to attend college. Remember, it is a free application - do not confuse it with other "FAFSA" sites that charge a fee for services.

Scholarship & Financial Aid Scams- Each year parents and students fall prey to scholarship and financial aid scams.  Unscrupulous companies may attempt to lure consumers by making promises that are fraudulant or by charging fees for information that is generally available to everyone for free. The Federal Trade Commission cautions consumers to look for some of these tell tale lines:

• "The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back."
• "You can't get this information anywhere else."
• "I just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship."
• "We'll do all the work."
• "The scholarship will cost some money."
• "You've been selected by a 'national foundation' to receive a scholarship"
• "You're a finalist" in a contest you never entered.

Scholarship Criteria: If a scholarship needs a transcript, please request it from the Counseling Office secretaries 3 days prior to deadline date. This will allow us time to get your official transcript ready and back to you by the deadline date.
