"Alan has long been part of children in the district’s lives as a Pre-K teacher, a special education teacher, and coach. He is always kind and calm but also has a great sense of humor. Students know he’s there for them, if they need to talk or to cheer them on, and he was a great source of comfort for my children during a difficult time. Although he is not a loud man, he should be cheered on loudly by all of us!"

1:1 Aide, Granby Elementary

"We are very blessed to work with Pam McCarty here at Granby Elementary. This year she moved up with Andrew to 5th grade to become part of the 5th grade team. Pam is a conscientious, hardworking and compassionate 1:1 aide. She has a very special way of relating to the students which helps to foster a safe and comfortable learning environment. Pam goes above and beyond to support not only Andrew but all of the students in the classroom.
One of Pam’s best qualities is devotion. Devotion is defined as 'love, loyalty, or enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause.' We see her devotion to Andrew every day as she goes above and beyond to advocate for him. Pam is dependable and compassionate and above all she is devoted to her students, coworkers and the school. She is trustworthy and reliable. Even when Pam isn’t feeling her best, she comes to school and gives us her all.
When we asked Andrew what he thought of Mrs. McCarty and this was his response. “'Mrs. McCarty is very special to me because she helps me in math class. She helps me when I am frustrated and talks to me kindly. She is positive and always believes in me. She is always smiling and happy to see me. She makes me feel safe and I am thankful for her.'
